"8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter" (Tuesdays from 8:00-8:30 p.m., ET)
John Ritter ("Three's Company") and Katey Sagal ("Married...with Children") return to series television in this charming family comedy about a loving, rational dad who suddenly discovers that his two darling daughters have unexpectedly morphed into hormonally-charged, incomprehensible teenagers.
Paul Hennessy (Ritter) has grown accustomed to his stay-at-home wife Cate (Ms. Sagal) taking care of their son and two daughters. His job as a sports writer kept him on the road a lot during the kids' formative years. But when Cate decides to return to work as a hospital nurse, Paul takes a job as a columnist and agrees to make the duties of raising the kids a shared experience.
Paul fondly remembers the days when his daughters would sit on his lap singing silly songs, and he was their hero for scaring away monsters from under the bed. But those days are long gone.
Although not new to fatherhood, Paul is just a bit rusty on day-to-day interaction and discovers that he's grown a little out of touch with his kids - especially his daughters. His value has been reduced to a wallet and a ride to the mall. Sixteen-year-old Bridget (Kaley Cuoco, "Growing Up Brady," "Ladies Man") has matured into a beautiful and popular teenager with a different boyfriend each week and a taste for fashion that tends to be a little too revealing for her father's taste. By contrast, 15-year-old Kerry (Amy Davidson, ABC Family series "So Little Time") is intelligent and cute, but her lack of self-confidence has led her to hide behind a mask of sarcasm. Thank goodness for 13-year-old son Rory (Martin Spanjers, "Daddio"), fondly referred to as "The Boy" by Paul and Cate, who remains on the sane track...at least for the time being.
Though Bridget and Kerry still love their father, Paul has to come to grips with the fact that he is no longer the most important man in their lives at the moment. Dating boys and fitting in with their peers are the girls' top priorities. No matter what they do, Paul has one major rule that will never change - "If you make my daughters cry, I'll make you cry."
"8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter," based on W. Bruce Cameron's best-selling book, "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter," stars John Ritter as Paul Hennessy, Katey Sagal as Cate Hennessy, Kaley Cuoco as Bridget Hennessy, Amy Davidson as Kerry Hennessy and Martin Spanjers as Rory Hennessy.
Tracy Gamble ("Home Improvement," "The Golden Girls"), who created the series, also serves as executive producer along with Tom Shadyac ("Liar Liar," "The Nutty Professor," "Patch Adams"), Flody Suarez ("The Tick") and Michael Bostick ("Liar Liar"). "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter," which is filmed before an audience, is from Touchstone Television.

MARTIN SPANJERS
Rory Hennessy on the ABC Television Network's "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter"
Arizona native Martin Spanjers started his acting career at the ripe old age of seven when he was cast as Michael in a summer theatre production of "Peter Pan." When he was first cast for the role, Martin turned it down, explaining that there was too much "line load" (too many lines). The director talked him into taking the role, and he was a big hit with the audience. He never worried about "line load" again.
Martin went on to perform as Colin in "The Secret Garden," Tiny Tim in "A Christmas Carol" and Frank in "Cheaper by the Dozen."
Drawn into the entertainment industry by his new-found love of theatre, Martin's talent propelled him into television and feature films. On the big screen he starred in "The Ride," "The Perfect Game," "Max Keeble's Big Move," "Home" and "Evil Alien Conquerors."
On television Martin starred in the series "Daddio" with Michael Chiklis, and had a recurring role in the Olsen twins' comedy, "Two of a Kind." He also guest starred in a variety of television series, including "Touched By an Angel," "The Hughleys," "Malcolm in the Middle" and Andy Richter Controls the Universe."

PRODUCER BIOGRAPHIES
TRACY GAMBLE
creator/executive producer
Tracy Gamble began his career as a writer soon after graduating from Loyola Law School by writing freelance episodes of "Newhart." He is a practicing attorney, but luckily Hollywood has kept him more or less gainfully employed over the years, thereby limiting his opportunities to chase ambulances. Tracy attributes much of his growth as a writer to his time spent on "The Golden Girls," rising in the ranks over four seasons from executive story editor to co-executive producer. Over the years Tracy has worked on several memorable shows, including "Married...with Children," "Clueless," "Home Improvement" and, most recently, ABC's "According To Jim." But to date his two favorite credits remain husband of 25 years to his wife, Cathy, and proud father of two teenage daughters and a son. Coincidentally - okay, on purpose -- the kids on "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter" just happen to be named after his own kids, Bridget (18), Kerry (15) and Rory (12). Tracy feels quite fortunate these days to work on "8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter" and be paid to talk about the perils of raising two teenage daughters instead of his usual routine, which had consisted of going across town and paying his therapist to listen to him talk about the perils of raising two teenage daughters.
TOM SHADYAC
executive producer
Tom Shadyac moved to Los Angeles in 1983, and at the age of 23 became the youngest staff joke writer ever for the legendary Bob Hope. He attended graduate school at UCLA in 1989, where he completed the critically acclaimed short film, "Tom, Dick and Harry." His first feature film as a director was Jim Carrey's breakout hit, "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective." He followed that up with the box office smash, "The Nutty Professor," produced by Brian Grazer and star Eddie Murphy. He then re-teamed with Carrey and Grazer for the hit sensation, "Liar Liar." In 1998 he directed and executive-produced "Patch Adams," starring Robin Williams. His most recent film was "Dragonfly," starring Kevin Costner, and he is currently re-teaming with Carrey on the comedy "Bruce Almighty."
FLODY SUAREZ
executive producer
Prior to starting his own production company, Flody Suarez was president of Barry Sonnenfeld's TV production company under an overall deal at Sony Pictures Television. While there, Suarez developed and produced the live-action comedy series "The Tick" for Fox, "Secret Agent Man" for UPN and the Daniel Stern pilot "Partners" for CBS. In his two years with Sonnenfeld, they developed projects for every major network. Before joining Sonnenfeld, Suarez was vice president of Development for NBC, where he oversaw production on "ER," "3rd Rock from the Sun," "Just Shoot Me" and "Men Behaving Badly." He segued to primetime series from NBC's communications department, where he spearheaded launch campaigns for "Friends," "NewsRadio" and "The Screen Actor's Guild Awards," as well as directing campaigns for "Seinfeld," "Frasier," "Law & Order," "Homicide: Life on the Street," "The Laugh-In 25th Anniversary Special," "Serving in Silence: The Margarethe Cammermeyer Story" and over 100 NBC television movies and specials. From 1989 to 1992 Suarez was vice president of marketing for Miramax Films and was responsible for advertising campaigns on "Cinema Paradiso," "The Grifters," "Madonna: Truth or Dare" and "The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover," among many others. From 1986 to 1989 he was vice president of advertising for Dell Femina Advertising, where he oversaw the Rolls Royce, Bentley, USA Cable Networks, WCBS-TV and New York Mets accounts. Prior to that he served as director of advertising for Penthouse Publications. Suarez received his BA in communications from the University of Florida.
MICHAEL BOSTICK
executive producer
Michael Bostick is a producer at Shady Acres Entertainment, a film and television production company based at Universal Studios with Tom Shadyac. He is currently a producer on Shadyac's next film, "Bruce Almighty," a comedy starring Jim Carrey. Most recently he served as executive producer on the feature film "Dragonfly," also directed by Shadyac. Prior to joining Shady Acres, Bostick was an executive with Ron Howard and Brian Grazer's Imagine Entertainment for nearly 10 years, ultimately serving as president of Imagine Films. Helping manage the slate of feature film projects through development and production, he most notably was responsible for bringing in and supervising two of the most successful films in the company's history: "Apollo 13," as an associate producer, and "Liar Liar," as an executive producer. In 1999 Bostick won an Emmy, a Golden Globe, and a Producer's Guild Award for producing the HBO miniseries "From the Earth To the Moon," with Tom Hanks as executive producer. The show was also honored with awards for Best Miniseries from both the Broadcast Film Critics Association and the Television Critics Association. Bostick started his film career at Walt Disney & Touchstone Pictures as a creative executive for nearly two years. In addition to developing a number of films at Disney, he was instrumental in the creation of the New Writers Fellowship Program aimed at discovering and developing minority talent. He received a Masters degree from the Peter Stark Motion Picture Producing Program at the University of Southern California's School of Cinema-Television.
