2/27/2004: "Opposites Attract, Part II" came in at #58 for the week of Feb 16-22, 61st in total viewers. This past Tuesday's episode ("Opposites Attract, Part III") was on par with last week, third in its timeslot, and second in its timeslot among adults 18-49. 8 Simple Rules has picked up two additional episodes this season, rising its season order to 24 episodes this season. This past Tuesday's episode ("Opposites Attract, Part II") did a bit better, third in its timeslot, and tied for third in its timeslot among viewers 18-49. John Ritter's friend, Peter Bogdanovich will be guest starring on the March 2 episode, don't miss that. Peter and one of John's other friends, Henry Winkler were set to guest star that week John passed away, unfortunately the episode was never taped. Katey Sagal was honored on Feb. 18 by Ladies Home Journal, for Funny Ladies We Love, with Ellen DeGeneres and Megan Mullally; Kaley Cuoco and Martin Spanjers were on hand in support of Katey Sagal. Be sure to watch "Opposites Attract, Part III" this coming Tuesday!

2/13/2004: This past Tuesday's episode ("Opposites Attract, Part I") was fourth in its timeslot overall and fourth in timeslot among viewers 18-49. It clearly was not a good showing because of FOX's American Idol of course, but this week NBC aired a special re-airing of Friends, that probably stole most of 8 Simple Rules' audience. This Tuesday the ratings should be better, similar to how Consequences were, at least we hope. Please watch the show, they have gone through a lot this season. Will Bridget ask Jeremy out? Watch part 2 of this wonderful 3-part episode this Tuesday!

2/6/2004: "Consequences" came in at #40 for the week of Jan 26-Feb 1, #39 in total viewers. Not bad after going up against American Idol. Don't forget this coming Tuesday starts the 3-part episode with Jonathan Taylor Thomas--for the next three weeks! Also, David Spade will be on The View on Monday, Feb. 9 at 11:00AM ET/10:00AM PT/CT on ABC. Kaley Cuoco will be on The Sharon Osbourne Show on Tuesday, February 10, check local listings for time and channel in your area (WGN airs it nationally at midnight ET). The Directors Guild Awards are soon, our James Widdoes has been nominated for Comedy Series, for the historic "Goodbye" episode. Again, don't forget 8 Simple Rules on this Tuesday!

1/30/2004: This past Tuesday's episode ("Consequences") was third in its timeslot overall and a solid second in its timeslot among viewers 18-49. It's that time of year again when 8 Simple Rules faces American Idol. Please watch 8 Simple Rules instead! This coming Tuesday (Feb. 3), 8 Simple Rules will not be on. See last week's news note on why. It returns for the rest of February starting Feb. 10 with guest stars Jonathan Taylor Thomas (Feb 10 & 17) and Oscar winner Tatum O'Neal (Feb 24). Hope everyone saw David on Leno and Kaley on The View. Katey Sagal is on Ellen's show this coming Tuesday; check local listings.

1/23/2004: "Get Real" came in at #37 for the week of Jan 12-18, #36 in total viewers with 10.6 million viewers. Don't forget this Tuesday 8 Simple Rules is back on, last week it wasn't on because of the State of the Union, so ABC aired two reruns of According to Jim at 8-9pm. This week's episode is called "Consequences," a re-working of "Drug Dog" which was supposed to tape in November, but due to John's passing, it never came about. Upcoming talk show appearances with the cast: David Spade on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on Monday (Jan 26) at 11:35PM ET/PT on NBC, Kaley Cuoco on The View on ABC Tuesday (Jan 27) 11AM ET (10AM PT/CT), and Katey Sagal on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on next Tuesday (February 3), check local listings for time and channel in your area. Also, on Feb. 3, 8 Simple Rules will not be seen, ABC will air repeats of their comedies from 8-10pm, According to Jim at 8, I'm With Her at 8:30, another According to Jim at 9, and Less Than Perfect at 9:30--the reason an 8 Simple Rules rerun isn't on because they don't have enough episodes this season so far to rerun, because for sure the 3 with John will not re-air for a while, along with the one hour Goodbye episode, and the three other emotional episodes. ABC had scheduled "Story of Anne Frank & Skeevy" on Feb 3, but that already aired a little over amonth ago on December 23, so it was too early to reair. Not to worry, 8 Simple Rules returns with all-new episodes the following week for the rest of February, with special guest Johnathan Taylor Thomas! But before all that, we have an all-new episode THIS Tuesday, watch it!

1/16/2004: "YMCA" came in at #38 for the week of Jan 5-11, #35 in total viewers with 11.6 million viewers. This Tuesday's episode was second in its timeslot overall and second in its time slot in viewers 18-49. David Spade is now signed on for the rest of the season as a regular cast member. He will be listed in the opening credits starting with the Feb. 10 episode (8 Simple Rules is pre-empted on Feb 3) and James Garner will be listed as a regular in the credits starting with the next episode, on January 27. According to Jim will be on this coming Tuesday, but 8 Simple Rules will return the week after (Jan. 27) with an all-new episode.

1/9/2004: This past Tuesday's episode was second in its timeslot overall and first among viewers 18-49. Kaley Cuoco will be on MTV's Fake I.D. Club tomorrow (Saturday the 10th) at 12PM ET. Amy Davidson will be on SOAPnet's Soap Talk hosted by Lisa Rina (Holly from episode "YMCA") on Tuesday, January 13 at 9am and will reair the same night at 11pm. Also, some huge news! The cast of 8 Simple Rules will be on CNN's Larry King Live this coming Monday at 9PM ET/PT (re-airs at 12am ET/PT). This coming Tuesday is a new episode, the first with David Spade (who was introduced in this week's episode in the tag scene), "Get Real." 8 Simple Rules will not air on Tuesday, January 20 due to the State of the Union Address by the President that night at 9PM, ABC will air two reruns of According to Jim from 8-9PM, but that's not next week--enjoy this coming week's episode!

1/3/2004: Happy New Year! Hopefully everyone saw the TV Guide special on ABC on Sunday. It was a countdown of ten things, and 8 Simple Rules came in at #2 for dealing with death of John Ritter. The last first run episode that aired (Dec 23) was #1 in its timeslot overall and viewers 18-49. James Garner has officially been signed on for the rest of the season now. "YMCA" episode is this coming Tuesday, and it sounds very funny--be sure to tune in!

12/22/2003: Just as a reminder, a new episode is on tomorrow (Dec. 23), don't forget. December 30 will be a rerun of "What Dad Would Want" and on January 6 new episodes return, "YMCA" will be airing, with guest star Lisa Rinna ("Soap Talk"). Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, see you in 2004!

12/15/2003: "The Story of Anne Frank and Skeevy" episode was scheduled for December 16, but due to the capture of Saddam Hussein, ABC has scheduled an exclusive interview with President Bush for Tuesday, December 16, hosted by Diane Sawyer. This episode of 8 Simple Rules will now air next week, Tuesday, December 23 at 8 p.m. E/P. Please let everyone you know who watch the show know, so no one misses the episode! Also, "Home Improvement" star Jonathan Taylor Thomas, will be guest starring on 8 Simple Rules this February for three episodes, playing Bridget's study partner-turned crush. UPDATE ON 12/17: The cast of "8 Simple Rules" will be on hand to celebrate Mickey Mouse's 75th Birthday, this Saturday (December 20) at 8PM-9PM E/P on ABC! Tune in!

12/5/2003: "The First Thanksgiving" came in at #26 for the week of Nov 24-3, 26th in total viewers as well. Reminder that 8 Simple Rules returns on December 16, enjoy an all-new Charlie Brown Christmas special this Tuesday, expect a promo for the 8 Simple Rules December 16 episode during Charlie Brown.

11/28/2003: "What Dad Would Want" came in at #35 for the week of Nov 17-23, #36 in total viewers with close to 11 million viewers. This past Tuesday's episode, "The First Thanksgiving" came in second in its timeslot overall and first in timeslot among viewers 18-49. A reminder that 8 Simple Rules won't be seen the next two weeks, December 2 and 9, due to Charlie Brown Christmas specials. 8 Simple Rules returns December 16 with an all-new episode. December 23 and 30 will be reruns, of "No Right Way" and "What Dad Would Want." Katey Sagal was on Good Morning America and The View on Tuesday, talking about the Thanksgiving episode without John. One of John Ritter's final film roles is in theatres now, it's called Bad Santa, and John plays Bob, a mall manager. It also stars his pal Billy Bob Thornton.

11/21/2003: "No Right Way" came in at #32 for the week of Nov 10-16, #36 in total viewers with 11.61 million. Not bad at all, considering it was up against the Andy Griffith Reunion. This Tuesday's episode, "What Dad Would Want" came in second in its timeslot overall and first among viewers 18-49. 8 Simple Rules is doing just fine. David Spade ("Just Shoot Me") has signed on for two-three episodes taping late next month for a possible February sweeps airdate. He will be playing a relative. Flody Suarez, one of the executive producers of the show, has been let go, reports are he and executive producer Tom Shadyac were having problems. This coming week's episode is the Thanksgiving episode, Tuesday at 8! (And again on Thanksgiving Day at 1pm ET, 12pm PT/CT on ABC)

11/14/2003: "Goodbye" came in at #6 for the week of Nov 3-9, #4 in total viewers with 20.51 million. This coming Tuesday's episode is "What Dad Would Want" please watch!

11/7/2003: The return of 8 Simple Rules drew over 20.51 million viewers in the special one hour episode, for its best ratings yet. It dominated every category on Tuesday and will likely be in the top 5 or 6 or so for the week (behind CSI, CSI Miami, ER, Country Music Awards, and Friends most likely). If anyone missed the episode for some reason, or need to tape it, or would want to watch this historical special episode again, ABC will RE-AIR it tomorrow (Saturday, November 8) at 10 p.m. E/P! Hopefully everyone will continue to watch 8 Simple Rules every Tuesday and see what the Hennessy family will be doing without the house leader.

10/31/2003: Happy Halloween! It didn't feel right having 8 Simple Rules off the air for the last two weeks for the first time ever since its debut. Well, the special one-hour episode's time has come. It will air this Tuesday at 8-9pm on ABC. It will be very sad and it will feel like something big is missing, but still keep watching the show, as John was very proud of it and would have wanted to go on. Also, make sure everyone gets the next TV Guide issue (Nov 8-14). The cast of 8 Simple Rules is on the cover with the title "Life After John" in a TV Guide exclusive. John's photo is on the top right corner as well and the cast talks about how they are coping with this devastating loss. It's on newsstands next week (I think November 4 it hits the stands). And photos of the one-hour episode "Goodbye" are on the photos season two section.

10/24/2003: Hopefully everyone saw John Ritter's wife, Amy Yasbeck, on Primetime Thursday last night. It was a very touching and sad interview. We are about 12 days or so away from the very special one hour episode of 8 Simple Rules, on November 4. All of America should be watching.

10/17/2003: The rerun of Come and Knock on Our Door (with extra footage -- two lines worth), came in 4th place on a competitive slot because of baseball. Last week's episode, the final one with John Ritter came in at #9 in the Nielsen Ratings, #8 in Total Viewers, and #7 in viewers 18-49 for the week of Oct. 6-12. John's memorial was on Tuesday and over 1,000 friends, family, etc were on hand in the over 2 hour event which had home movies, clips from TV shows and movies with John. Amy Yasbeck, Jason Ritter, Tom Ritter, Tyler Ritter, Carly Ritter, Nancy Morgan, Billy Bob Thornton, Markie Post, Katey Sagal, Richard Kline, Joyce DeWitt, Priscilla Barnes, John Ratzenberger, Peter Bogdanovich, Jack Bender, Steve Martin, Ben Stiller, David Hasselhoff, Richard Thomas, Henry Winkler, and author Chris Mann were among the many who were on hand to remember a great man. In 8 Simple Rules news, the one hour episode in which the family mourns the passing of Paul, will air on Tuesday, November 4 from 8-9 p.m. E/P on ABC. James Garner ("Maverick," "The Rockford Files") will be playing Cate's father for at least four episodes and Suzanne Pleshette ("The Bob Newhart Show") will be playing his wife (Cate's mom) for at least the one hour episode. If Paul passing away isn't worse, Cate's parents are also now separated.

10/10/2003: Episode 31 (the final episode with John Ritter) came in #1 for the night again with an 11.2/18 (17.72 million viewers). It was also #1 for the night in viewers 18-49 (7.1/21) and everything else. Last week's episode 30 came in at #15 for the week (Sept. 29-Oct. 5) in Nielsen Ratings, #13 for the week in Total Viewers. Next week, episode 16 ("Come and Knock on Our Door") will be reairing, after that, a two week hiatus as According to Jim will air on the 21st, Charlie Brown Halloween special on the 28th. 8 Simple Rules is scheduled to return in November with new episodes, most likely starting November 4. With the one hour episode titled, "Goodbye" which will be taped on October 24. Please continue to watch the show and support John Ritter, as long as the show keeps on going, his shadow will still be around.

10/3/2003: Episode 30 came in #1 for the night again with a 10.0/16 rating. It was also #1 for viewers 18-49 with a 6.2/19. #1 across the boards for everything. Shows how much people loved John. Last week's season premiere came in at #13 for the week (Sept. 22-28) in Nielsen Ratings, #12 for the week in Total Viewers, and #8 for the week for the week in viewers 18-49. Hope everyone watched John's last week on Hollywood Squares this week, it was very touching. 8 Simple Rules starts taping again on October 24, but now there will be NO studio audience for that episode, and we can understand why. Enjoy John's last episode for air this Tuesday. :(

9/26/2003: The season two premiere (episode 29) with a special introduction from Katey Sagal was #1 in the ratings for all of Tuesday, with 17 million viewers and a rating of 11.3/19, that even beat the series premiere from Sept. 17, 2002. Last week's ABC Primetime Special "A Life of Laughter: Remembering John Ritter" came in 6th place for the week of Sept. 15-21. Everyone loved John Ritter and the numbers for these two showings prove it. Don't forget to watch this coming Tuesday and the following Tuesday for John's last two episodes. Also, make sure you watch HOLLYWOOD SQUARES all next week (Sept. 29-Oct. 3), John's last appearance will be shown. It was taped back in August and was scheduled to air this week, it'll still air but with a tribute from Henry Winkler and others throughout the week, so please watch, check local listings for time and channel in your area. Rest in peace John and we miss you!

9/19/2003: The John Ritter Tribute special "A Life of Laughter" on Tuesday was the highest rated show of the night. And some more news, 8 Simple Rules WILL air as planned on September 23, with the season premiere. Check the episode guide section for the synopsis. The story is, the final three episodes that John taped will air (Sept. 23, 30 and Oct. 7), then the show will go into reruns for a while until they make new episodes, so 8 Simple Rules will go on with John's character, Paul, dying. The show will go back in production on October 20, with a tape date of October 24. So please make sure you watch John's final 3 episodes staring this Tuesday! Spread the word.

9/12/2003: Well, the worst news ever has come. The star of 8 Simple Rules, John Ritter felt ill last night on the set of 8 SIMPLE RULES while practicing for today's taping. He then was taken to a hopsital and died at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank shortly after 10 p.m. PT Thursday, six days before his 55th birthday. The cause of death was a tear in the aorta, the result of an unrecognized flaw in his heart. The status of 8 Simple Rules is now unknown and will not be premiering September 23, that's for sure.
